Meet Stu Swenson

It took me 30-some years, but I finally found the thing I was put here to do. And it hit me like a Mack truck. Welcome to my site, shop, and story.
I'm Stu Swenson, the founder of Swenson's Jewelry & Timepieces (SJT). After spending some time in the watch industry, I quickly realized that watches are more than just accessories. They're gatekeepers of time, pieces of art you wear on your wrist, and the start of so many great conversations.
How It Started
It started with a Longines Admiral I inherited from my father, who inherited it from his. And if I'm honest, that watch has given three generations of Swensons nothing but headaches: the crown would break, it would run when it felt like it, and it's been in the shop more times than I can count. But we keep fixing it, because that's what you do with something that carries that much history. My dream is that a Swenson's watch becomes that for your family, too: a piece worth passing down, full of stories, built to last. Minus the headache.
The Journey
In 2023, I started buying vintage watches at auction, restoring them, and reselling them. The margins were slim, but I fell in love with the craft: learning case backs, sourcing the right batteries, bringing a piece of history back to life. By 2025, I was ready to build something of my own, and Swenson's Jewelry & Timepieces was born.
20 Years of Quality (Just in a Different Lab)
Before watches, I spent 20 years running a construction materials testing laboratory, making sure concrete, asphalt, and soils met the standards they were built for. That quality-first mindset followed me straight into watchmaking. Every Swenson's watch is QA'd before it leaves the shop, built with the highest-quality parts I can source, and backed by a warranty. If something is less than perfect, you know before you buy. If something goes wrong, it comes back, gets serviced or replaced. No questions.
The Design
I'm not going to pretend I'm subtle. I like my watches flashy, vibrant, and impossible to ignore. Every collection is themed around movies, music, or quotes that mean something. I want you to put a Swenson's on your wrist and have someone stop you to say, "That is an incredible piece. Tell me about it."
But bold doesn't mean impractical. Every watch has to run right, tell time right, and give you real value. I want you to feel like you got something special, because you did.
Why I Do This
I have a steady job. I have a wife and two kids I'd do anything for. Starting this business was a leap of faith, and I know it. But instead of stacking all my chips on someone else's agenda, I'm betting on myself for once. My successes are mine. My failures are mine. And I'm doing it all with the same integrity I bring to everything: my word is my bond, and if I sell you something, you can trust it.
At the end of the day, I just want to make people happy. It really is about the little things. There's nothing like watching someone light up over a new timepiece on their wrist.
