Shipping
Processing time
Orders are typically shipped within 2 business days of purchase. You'll receive a confirmation email with tracking information once your order ships.
Carriers and tracking
We ship via USPS. Every order ships with tracking. Orders over $500 in value ship with signature confirmation required and are insured for the full purchase price.
Domestic shipping
We ship throughout the United States.
Shipping is free within the lower 48 states. For Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories, shipping is calculated at checkout based on the value and destination of your order.
International shipping
We do ship internationally to select countries. Please contact us before ordering so we can confirm availability and cost for your destination.
We quote international orders individually rather than automatically, because insurance coverage on watches varies significantly by country and carrier, and we'd rather confirm a package is properly covered before it leaves than discover otherwise afterward.
International buyers are responsible for any customs duties, import taxes, or fees charged by their country. These aren't included in the purchase price or shipping cost, and they're assessed by your customs authority rather than by us.
Packaging
Every piece is carefully packaged to prevent movement and damage in transit. High-value items receive additional protective packaging and insurance.
Lost or damaged in transit
If your order arrives damaged, or doesn't arrive at all, please contact us within 7 days of the expected delivery date so we can file a claim with the carrier and make it right.
Keep all original packaging if an item arrives damaged. Carriers usually require it to process a claim.
Address accuracy
Please double-check your shipping address at checkout. We ship to the address given on the order, and we can't reroute a package once it's in the carrier's hands. If you spot a mistake, email us immediately from this page. If the order hasn't shipped yet, we can fix it.
Returns & Refunds
We want you to love your piece. If something isn't right, here's how returns work.
Return window
You may return most items within 14 days of delivery for a refund, provided the item comes back in the same condition it was sent, with all original packaging, box, and papers where those were included.
Who pays return shipping
For a change-of-mind return, the buyer is responsible for return shipping. If an item arrives significantly not as described, we cover return shipping — and we'd rather you tell us than keep something you're unhappy with.
Please insure and track any return. Until it reaches us, it's still in transit.
Restocking fee
We don't charge one.
Custom and made-to-order pieces
Pieces built to your specifications are final sale. This is stated clearly on the listing and confirmed with you in writing before a commission begins.
This applies only to commissioned work. Finished pieces already in the shop, including Swenson's Originals, follow the normal 14-day return window.
If a watch arrives not working
If a watch was described as working and arrives not functioning as described, contact us within 7 days of delivery and we'll make it right. This applies to every piece we sell, including watches sold as-is.
How to start a return
Email us from this page (yes, we answer!) with your order number within the return window and we'll walk you through it. Please don't ship anything back before reaching out. We need to log the return so it doesn't arrive unexpected.
Refunds
Once we receive and inspect the returned item, we'll process your refund to the original payment method within 3 business days. Depending on your bank or card issuer, it may take a few additional days to appear on your statement.
Original shipping costs, where they were charged, aren't refunded on a change-of-mind return.
Exchanges
We're a small shop with one-of-a-kind inventory, so we handle exchanges as a return and a new order rather than a swap. Reach out and we'll make it as simple as we can.
Warranty
Every piece we sell is described as accurately as we can manage — its condition, any known flaws, and whether it's been tested and is functioning at the time of listing. We stand behind the accuracy of that description. That commitment applies to everything in the shop, regardless of warranty.
What's covered, by type of piece
Swenson's Originals — pieces we build ourselves, including commissioned builds — carry a 1-year warranty against defects in workmanship and materials, starting from the date of delivery.
Resale and vintage watches are sold as-is, with no separate seller's warranty beyond the accuracy of the listing description.
If a watch arrives not working
This applies to everything, including as-is pieces. If a watch is described as working and arrives not functioning as described, contact us within 7 days of delivery and we'll make it right.
"As-is" means we're not warrantying a decades-old movement against future failure. It does not mean we'd leave you with something that wasn't what we said it was.
Manufacturer warranties
Some pieces may still be covered under a manufacturer's original warranty, particularly newer or recently serviced watches. Where that applies, it's noted in the individual product listing along with any documentation included.
What's not covered
- Normal wear and tear, including scratches, and the natural aging of leather and plating
- Damage from accidents, misuse, or unauthorized repair attempts
- Water damage beyond the watch's rated resistance, or water damage to a piece with no stated rating
- Battery replacement, which is standard maintenance rather than a defect
- Timekeeping accuracy over time, which varies with wear, position, temperature, and magnetism
- Loss or theft
A note on timekeeping
Where we publish timegrapher readings, those are measurements taken here at the time of listing. They tell you the movement is in good health; they aren't a guaranteed ongoing rate. A magnetized watch alone can run minutes a day fast, and any watchmaker can correct that in about a minute.
How to make a claim
Email swensons.jt@gmail.com with your order number and a description of the issue, plus photos if you can. We'll get back to you within 3 business days.
Please don't attempt a repair, or have one attempted elsewhere, before contacting us — on a warranty piece, an outside repair attempt is one of the few things that voids the coverage.
Servicing
We're happy to recommend a trusted watchmaker if you'd like a referral. See our Care page for service intervals and everyday care.
Care
A little care goes a long way toward keeping your piece running well and looking its best for years.
Daily wear
- Wipe your watch down with a soft, dry cloth after wear, especially if you've been sweating or it's been exposed to salt air.
- Avoid extreme temperature changes where you can. Rapid shifts from hot to cold affect gaskets and lubrication over time.
- Store your watch in a cool, dry place when it's not in use. A watch box or soft pouch is ideal.
- Keep it away from magnets. This is the one that surprises people. Phone cases with magnetic mounts, laptop speakers, tablet covers, magnetic clasps and cabinet catches will magnetize a mechanical movement, and a magnetized watch suddenly runs minutes fast per day. It isn't damage and it isn't permanent. Any watchmaker can demagnetize it in about a minute. But it's easily the most common reason a mechanical watch starts keeping bad time.
Setting the date: please read this one!
If your watch has a date or day-date, don't change it between roughly 9pm and 3am.
During those hours the movement has already engaged the date-change mechanism, and forcing the quickset while it's under load can break the teeth that advance the wheel. It's the single most common way an owner damages an otherwise healthy watch, and it's an expensive repair for a completely avoidable reason.
Move the hands past noon first, then set the date, then set the time. If you're not sure whether it's showing AM or PM, advance the hands and watch when the date flips. That flip is midnight.
Automatic and mechanical movements
Wearing an automatic regularly keeps it wound and running accurately. Most of the movements in our builds hold roughly 41 hours of power reserve, so if a watch sits for more than a day or two it will stop and need winding and resetting.
That's completely normal and does no harm. A watch winder is a convenience, not a requirement.
Screw-down crowns
If your watch has a screw-down crown, make sure it's fully seated and tightened after setting the time. An unscrewed crown is the most common way water gets into a watch that was otherwise perfectly capable of keeping it out.
Water resistance
Water resistance ratings decrease over time as seals age, and vary significantly between pieces. Please refer to the individual listing for the specific rating on your watch. If a listing gives no rating, treat the watch as not water resistant.
Treat vintage pieces conservatively. We recommend avoiding submersion in any vintage watch regardless of its original rating, unless it's been recently pressure tested.
Condensation under the crystal, a foggy-looking dial, or rust-colored specks near the edges all mean moisture has gotten in. Have it opened and dried promptly rather than waiting.
Cleaning
- Metal cases and bracelets: a soft, slightly damp cloth is usually enough. Avoid harsh chemicals, and avoid ultrasonic cleaners unless you know the watch is rated for it.
- Leather straps: keep them away from prolonged water exposure and direct sunlight, both of which dry and crack leather over time. Sunscreen and perfume break leather down quickly too.
Straps
Changing a strap is one of the cheapest ways to make a watch feel new. You'll need the lug width (the distance between the lugs in millimeters) and a spring bar tool. Check your listing for the lug width, and if it isn't there, email us and we'll measure it.
Servicing
Mechanical and vintage watches benefit from periodic professional servicing, typically every 3 years, depending on the movement and how often the watch is worn. We're happy to recommend a trusted watchmaker if you'd like a referral.

Terms of Service
Last updated: 9/20/2026
By using this website or placing an order with us, you agree to the terms below. Please read them, particularly the sections on condition and timekeeping, which describe how we sell pre-owned and vintage watches.
1. Who we are
This site is operated by Swenson's Jewelry and Timepieces, a jewelry and watch shop located in Snohomish, Washington. "We," "us," and "our" refer to Swenson's Jewelry and Timepieces. "You" refers to the person using this site or placing an order.
2. Our other policies are part of these terms
Our Shipping Policy, Return and Refund Policy, Warranty, and Privacy Policy are incorporated into these terms by reference and apply to every order. If something in those policies conflicts with these terms, the specific policy governs for its own subject.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, or have the permission of a parent or legal guardian, to place an order.
4. Products and descriptions
We make every effort to accurately describe our products, including condition, materials, and any known flaws. Many items are vintage, pre-owned, or one-of-a-kind, and slight variations from photographs should be expected as normal for used and hand-assembled goods.
Colors can appear different between screens and in different lighting. Measurements are given as accurately as we can take them and may vary slightly.
While we work hard to avoid errors, listings may occasionally contain a mistake in specifications, reference numbers, measurements, availability, or price. We reserve the right to correct any error, and to cancel an order affected by one, with a full refund.
5. Condition of pre-owned and vintage watches
PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY.
EXCEPT FOR PIECES WE BUILD OURSELVES, WHICH CARRY THE WRITTEN WARRANTY DESCRIBED IN OUR WARRANTY POLICY, ALL WATCHES AND JEWELRY ARE SOLD "AS IS" AND "WITH ALL FAULTS." TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES ON THOSE ITEMS, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
What this does not do is relieve us of the accuracy of our own descriptions. We stand behind those. If a watch is described as working and arrives not functioning as described, contact us within 7 days of delivery and we will make it right, as set out in our Warranty and our Return and Refund Policy.
Pre-owned and vintage watches are decades-old mechanical objects. They may need service, and parts for older movements can be scarce or unavailable. We cannot promise that a vintage piece will not require attention from a watchmaker, or that parts for it will be obtainable in the future.
6. Timekeeping and published measurements
Where we publish timegrapher readings (rate, amplitude, and beat error) those are measurements taken by us at the time of listing, in the position measured.
They describe the condition of the movement at that time. They are not a guarantee of ongoing accuracy or a performance specification. Mechanical watches vary with position, winding state, temperature, magnetism, and wear. Water resistance ratings, where stated, reflect the piece's original rating or a test result noted in the listing, and are not a guarantee of current water resistance unless the listing says the piece has been recently pressure tested.
7. Custom and commissioned pieces
Commissioned work begins only after the specification and price are agreed in writing. A piece built to your specification is final sale, which we confirm with you in writing before any work starts. Commissioned pieces carry the same 1-year warranty as other Swenson's Originals.
We cannot produce a dial or component using a third party's trademarked logo, copyrighted artwork, or licensed character.
8. Pricing
All prices are listed in USD and are subject to change without notice. Applicable sales tax is added at checkout based on your shipping address, in accordance with Washington State law.
9. Order acceptance
Your order is an offer to buy, which we accept when we ship it. We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order for any lawful reason, including suspected fraud, payment problems, stock or listing errors, or a request we can't fulfill. If we cancel an order, you receive a full refund.
Because our inventory is largely one-of-a-kind, an item may sell in the shop while it's still showing as available online. If that happens, we'll tell you promptly and refund you in full.
10. Shipping and delivery
Shipping terms, carriers, insurance, and claim windows are set out in our Shipping Policy. We aren't responsible for carrier delays, and we can't reroute a package once it's with the carrier.
11. Returns
Returns are governed by our Return and Refund Policy, including the 14-day window, the condition requirements, and the items that are final sale.
12. Service, repair, and referrals
We may recommend a watchmaker as a convenience. A referral isn't an endorsement or a guarantee of that person's work, and any service you arrange is a matter between you and them. Unauthorized repair attempts void warranty coverage on pieces we build.
13. Intellectual property
All content on this site, including photographs, descriptions, and the Swenson's Jewelry and Timepieces name and logo, is the property of Swenson's Jewelry and Timepieces and may not be used without permission.
Brand names and trademarks of watch manufacturers appear on this site only to identify the pieces we sell. We are independent and are not an authorized dealer for, affiliated with, or endorsed by any manufacturer unless a listing specifically says otherwise.
14. Acceptable use
Please don't use this site to break the law, attempt unauthorized access, scrape or copy the site's content for reuse, or interfere with its operation.
15. Third-party services and links
This site runs on Shopify and uses third-party payment processing. Any third-party site we link to is governed by its own terms and privacy practices, which we don't control.
16. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Swenson's Jewelry and Timepieces is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of this site or your purchase of our products. Where liability can't be excluded, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the item in question.
Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including any right you have under Washington's consumer protection statutes.
17. Governing law and venue
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Snohomish County, Washington, and both parties consent to that venue.
18. Severability
If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, that provision is limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the rest of these terms remain in full force.
19. Entire agreement and changes
These terms, together with the policies incorporated in Section 2, are the entire agreement between us regarding your use of this site and your purchase.
We may update these terms from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with a revised date, and the version in effect when you place an order is the version that applies to it.
20. Contact
Questions about these terms can be directed to Stu Swenson here.
