DESCRIPTION

The case is a tonneau — the barrel shape, curved at the sides and flat top and bottom, that reads instantly as dressy and slightly unusual next to a shelf of round watches. In polished steel with a heft that surprises people picking it up.

The dial gives you three things to look at. An open heart at nine o'clock, where the dial is cut away so you can watch the balance wheel swinging — gold and blue, running visibly, the part of a mechanical watch that's usually hidden. A 24-hour indicator at three. And a moonphase display at six, a blue disc scattered with stars. Fine horizontal striping across a white dial, applied blue baton markers, doubled at twelve and six.
Turn it over and the movement is on show through an exhibition caseback, decorated rotor winding as you move.
And it keeps genuinely good time. We put it on the timegrapher: +5 seconds per day. For an automatic at this price that's exceptional — plenty of watches costing many times more do worse.
