"Why am I Mr. Pink?"

Nobody gets to pick their own nickname. That's the joke, and it's also the watch.

The Alias keeps most of itself in reserve. A Seiko NH36 automatic runs behind a sapphire crystal, under a charcoal dial cut with a rippling wave texture that only appears when the light moves across it — flat gray head-on, water at an angle. The cushion case is brushed across the top and polished down the flanks, 42 mm wide, built to read as a sports watch without raising its voice. Applied indices, lume where it earns its place, day and date at three. One red-tipped seconds hand doing the only loud thing on the dial.

Hand-assembled by Swenson's, on a gray-and-black seatbelt nylon strap.

About the 300m/1000ft on the dial: that marking was printed by the dial manufacturer, and it describes the dial — not this assembled watch. Whether a watch actually holds pressure depends on the caseback gasket, the crown, and the crystal seal, and this one hasn't been pressure tested. So we're not repeating the number as a specification. Treat it as not water resistant until a test says otherwise. Any watchmaker can do it in a few minutes.

On water resistance: this is a dive-styled watch, not a tested one. It hasn't been pressure tested, so we make no water-resistance claim and recommend treating it as a dry-wear watch. A pressure test at any watchmaker settles it in a few minutes if you want the certainty.
